Seagull Artist Series Mosaic Dreadnought i-Beam Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural

Seagull Artist Series Mosaic Dreadnought i-Beam Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural

$1,429.00  $1,169.00

The Artist Series Mosaic Dreadnought is a solid cedar top guitar with solid mahogany back and sides and i-Beam electronics. The cedar/mahogany combination typically produces a sweet sound. The custom polished finish further enhances the sweet sound of this combination. The on-board LR Baggs i-Beam electronics lets you sound your best on any stage. The new compound curve top concept was originally developed for the Seagull Artist Series guitars and it is in these models that the new design really proves itself. The Artist Series luthiers choose from the very best of a stockpile that includes over a hundred thousand, luthier-grade, solid cedar and spruce boards. In fact, all of the tone woods for the Artist Series are hand-selected to ensure that the very highest standards are met. The scalloped bracing is designed to such precise tolerances that it requires a CNC milling machine to carve the individual pieces to the exact specifications. The finished instruments speak with incredible clarity and character and that's before they open up. These guitars develop an even deeper character when 'played-in' and will no doubt become lifelong companions to those who choose them. The new models will look familiar to Seagull enthusiasts, the straight-pull headstock remainsnow adorned with a new 'Artist' logo and the standard Seagull body shape has been altered only slightly with a narrower waist. All models are made with solid backs and sides. The impact of solid sides on the sound of a guitar is virtually immeasurable.Sound and feel are where the new Artist Series guitars really distinguish themselves. The clear bottom end response arrives with plenty of punch and provides a suitable foundation to the harmonically rich sound that sits on top.All the Artist Series Models are finished with a custom polished finish. The technique on semi-gloss models produces a beautiful sheen reminiscent of an antique violin finish. The spruce top models are also finished with a custom polished finish but a slightly thicker coating is buffed to a high gloss. The less delicate nature of this finish makes these models more appropriate for more aggressive playing.LR Baggs has pioneered the concept of combining an undersaddle transducer (Ribbon Transducer) with a revolutionary bridge plate transducer (the iBeam Duet). The iBeam Duet blends the iBeam and Ribbon Transducer signals with an onboard preamp featuring a very sophisticated set of controls for mixing and equalization. This is the ultimate in onboard acoustic amplification. [Read more]

The Quantum I Saddle Transducer Pickup includes rotary volume, bass, and treble controls, with 200 hours typical battery life.Compound Curve Top Design The guitar top is the part of the instrument that most affects the sound. It is also the most delicate part of any high-quality acoustic guitar. The grade and thickness of the wood used (solid spruce), as well as the bracing structure, have a huge impact on the instrument's sound. The idea of applying an arch or a curve to the top is appealing because the added strength of an arched top should allow for the use of a thinner and more lightly braced top. While this is true, there remains a trade-off in applying a curve to the entire top. The most active part of the top is the area centered on the bridge. Applying a curve to this part of the top restricts movement resulting in a loss of dynamic range. On the other hand, the area of the top above the sound hole moves minimally but is problematic because it tends to sink if the guitar dries out even slightly. This tendency is also encouraged by downward pressure from the fingerboard resting on top of it. The solution is a top that has a compound curve. In the Seagull Performer's design the top is arched slightly in the area above the sound hole and levels out in the area around the bridge. The compound curve top produces excellent stability in the upper part of the guitar top and the power and projection made possible by leaving the top flat below the sound hole flat. With the weak area above the sound hole stabilized, it is possible to make the rest of the top even more active with a bracing design that allows unprecedented control over the top vibration. The bracing for the Seagull Performer Cutaway QI guitar is quarter-sawn spruce, scalloped and carved to conform exactly to the curvature of the tops. [Read more]

Body style Slightly smaller than a typical Dreadnought guitar, the Maritime SWS Rosewood SG Acoustic Guitar is narrower in the upper bout. This shape discourages unwanted boominess in the sound and is one of the factors that results in Seagulls being such excellent recording guitars.Select Pressure Tested Solid Tops A guitar produces sound as a result of the vibration of its strings. What's not so obvious is the role that the guitar top plays in amplifying these vibrations. In fact, the vibration of the top is the most important factor in a guitar's sound. Solid tonewood top guitars offer richer sound and wider dynamic range (they play better at both soft and loud volume levels). The most interesting thing about a solid top guitar is that it will actually sound better over time. All Seagull guitars are made with select pressure-tested solid tops. Each solid top is made from a single layer of Spruce or Cedar and is pressure tested to ensure its highest level of rigidity and stiffness along with maximum harmonic vibration. The extraordinary wood used in Seagull guitars comes from trees that are hundreds of years old. The tight, straight grain in this wood produces a unique combination of strength and flexibility. The top is strong enoughin the direction of the grainto withstand the pull of the strings, while at the same time it's flexible enoughacross the grainto vibrate freely. The perfect neck angle Neck angle has a tremendous effect on guitar tone. The Seagull re-design served as the impetus for several refinements to Godin's neck matching technology. Bodies and necks are now matched with incredible precision and the new com [Read more]
